Port Orford Community Building Renovation Begins
The renovation of the Port Orford Community Building officially began in May 2025. Vitus Construction, the company leading the project, started with some interior demolition to prepare the space. Next week, the front stairs and concrete will be removed to make way for a new entrance that will be ADA accessible, making it easier for everyone to use.
“It’s going to be exciting to watch the community building transform before our eyes over the next several months,” Mayor Vileisis said.
Before the construction kickoff, volunteers from the Port Orford Rotary Club helped clear out the building and held a “garage sale,” with proceeds going toward the project. Volunteers from the Community Center Friends are helping to monitor the renovation effort.
For safety reasons and to give the construction crew enough space to work, Eleventh Street in front of the Community Building will be closed for now. Please use a different route.
The Port Orford Community Building renovation project is funded by a $1.5 million federal Community Development Block Grant administered by Business Oregon and also by the generous donations of private individuals and foundations, including the Oregon Community Foundation and Bandon Dunes Charitable Foundation.
